Movoto Real Estate Blog has named Zachary as the “7th Safest Place” in Louisiana to live.  Proud to be in the Top 10, Movoto applauds our city as a place with a lot of small-town pride and love, in addition to our amazing low crime stats.  With a population of 15,092 residents, the blog states that our residents have a 1 in 227 chance of being the victim of a crime. They also commend our city for being rated a top school district, a great town for families, and more.  Movoto compiles a list of the biggest cities in states with over 7,000 people, and then gathers data from the 2012 FBI Uniform Crime Report. With those statistics, they compile a list of the 10 absolute safest spots in those states.

“This award was received because of the hard work and dedication of the men and women of the Zachary Police Department, and the great citizens that live here.  OUR GOAL IS TO MAKE ZACHARY THE SAFEST COMMUNITY TO RAISE A FAMILY AND TO OPERATE A BUSINESS,” says Zachary Chief of Police David McDavid.

“We are very proud to be the biggest city in Movato Real Estate Blog’s Top 10, naming Zachary as the 7th Safest Place in Louisiana, and are proud of the combined efforts of local citizens and the city’s police department.  While we are pleased with this award, our goal is to be The Number ONE Safest City, and we will strive hard to achieve this,” says Mayor David Amrhein.
